Overview
The Record
Dhorak converts Kharad’s industrial power into operational permission. From its central towers, the Directorate coordinates the moon’s largest foundries, military command, orbital facilities, specialized descent vessels, and the permits without which no crew may work the Deep. The extraction itself occurs within Oranth’s atmosphere. Dhorak’s authority lies in deciding who can reach it, when a corridor may open, and which crews and practitioners Kharad will trust inside that route.
The city rises from a fortified basalt plateau surrounded by volcanic rifts glowing through persistent haze. Overlapping pressure domes and sealed structures contain its central offices, foundry districts, military compounds, and inhabited quarters. Armored transit lines and protected shafts carry ore, technical personnel, components, and information across exposed industrial ground where heat and toxic conditions make ordinary surface movement impossible.
Directors who have run mines, foundries, shipyards, and descent systems hold the Directorate’s chairs. One serves as Overseer only while that director retains command of the descent. Mordane appears here as Kharad’s mineral vassal and Rethis as the technical dependency whose observations can close a corridor. Velyrian finance remains visible throughout the infrastructure, but its contracts do not assign crews, license Summoners, or open the Deep.
The Faithful have made Dhorak’s permit system more suspicious than its engineering culture prefers. Crew vetting now weighs the length and continuity of working relationships as heavily as an individual record, slowing recruitment and excluding capable strangers in favor of teams already known to one another. No Overseer wants to be remembered for relaxing that burden before a compromised descent. Dhorak can command the industrial system around the Deep; it cannot remove the weather, information, finance, and human trust on which every command depends.

Environment
Dhorak occupies a fortified basalt rise amid active volcanic rifts and persistent industrial haze. Central towers, foundry districts, military compounds, and inhabited quarters stand beneath overlapping pressure domes or within sealed structures. Armored transit lines and protected shafts cross exposed zones where heat, toxic conditions, and volcanic activity make open movement exceptional.

Travel Notes
Transfer through protected orbital facilities and descend to a sealed landing complex under the clearance named in your visit. Movement within active foundry and military districts follows controlled routes. Leaving the city requires a hardened vehicle, environmental protection, and authorization through industrial or military checkpoints. Deep permits, descent licenses, and ordinary arrival clearance are separate authorities.
