Kelyra

City

Caelor’s shipbuilding archipelago, constructing vessels that pass reliably among violent seas, turbulent atmosphere, orbital routes, and civilian sub-light travel.

Overview

The Record

Kelyra builds vessels around the requirement that one journey may cross several hostile environments. Its protected volcanic lagoons contain sealed drydocks, fabrication halls, propulsion works, cliffside berths, and enclosed hangars for watercraft, atmospheric vehicles, and civilian sub-light spacecraft. A hull may have to survive violent sea, climb through turbulent air, work above a storm system, return to water, or continue into orbit.

That requirement distinguishes the archipelago from Velyr’s much larger orbital yards. Kelyra does not compete through the number of frames it can fill. Its reputation rests on integrated endurance, navigation, repair, and civilian utility. Navigators, engineers, and shipwrights train together because a vessel that can be built but not guided safely between its operating environments is considered unfinished work.

Island governments, yard councils, engineering institutions, and navigator schools share administration. Yards compete for contracts and protect their designs, while common standards govern navigation and safety through the lagoons. Summoners stand at the center of the schools; Occulters close sealed docks for the duration of protected contracts.

Dark volcanic islands make that cooperation necessary. Bridges and settlements climb cliffs above rough outer water, and smaller passages can close while the main construction lagoon remains usable. Kelyra’s institutions can coordinate a launch or repair across the archipelago. They cannot make every sea approach open at once.

Identity and Function

Function

Kelyra designs, constructs, repairs, and maintains advanced marine vessels, atmospheric craft, and civilian spacecraft. Its yards also develop propulsion, train navigators and marine engineers, and service vessels that must operate across water, air, and space rather than in only one environment.

Identity and Function

Governance

Island governments, yard councils, engineering institutions, and navigator schools jointly administer Kelyra. Individual yards compete for contracts and control their active works, while shared standards govern safety, navigation, and passage through the construction lagoons. No yard council governs the whole Caeloran ocean beyond those common responsibilities.

Environment and Travel

Environment

Dark volcanic islands enclose protected construction lagoons filled with sealed drydocks, fabrication halls, propulsion works, service berths, and hangars. Bridges connect cliffside settlements and industrial compounds above rough outer seas. Sheltered water permits assembly and launch when passages among the smaller islands remain open.

Environment and Travel

Travel Notes

Arrive by a protected marine route or designated atmospheric approach assigned to your yard, school, or service berth. Civilian movement is restricted around active construction, sealed docks, and propulsion tests. Rough outer seas frequently close smaller island passages, so an open main lagoon does not guarantee access to every yard.

Culture

The Twofold

Summoners anchor the navigator schools, guiding vessels through dangerous sea routes and less predictable passages between moons. Other Dawn practitioners support inspection, precision work, coordination, and emergency response. Occulters close sealed docks to observation while a vessel remains under contract, and Gloam practitioners protect designs and work in security, deep water, and storms.
