Pellen

Agricultural Settlement

Sorell’s principal settlement and public dock, administering medicinal cultivation from the same managed hills whose atmospheric works keep the fields viable.

Overview

The Record

Pellen occupies the low hills where Sorell’s managed atmosphere can sustain settlement and medicine together. Homes, still houses, drying rooms, teaching halls, glasshouses, and enclosed fields share the cultivated belt. Water channels and catchments cross between them, while circulation towers, compactors, and planted windbreaks maintain the air required by residents and crops alike.

The settlement’s authority lies in records that govern living material. Planting lists establish what may be grown, cultivation and research permits establish where the work may occur, and inspection offices decide when a medicinal shipment can leave. The public dock receives visitors and cargo without direct clearance for a private compound, making Pellen the controlled threshold to Sorell’s growing districts rather than a market from which any buyer may take a crop.

Sorell’s growers, physicians, compound representatives, and botanical custodians administer that work. Ilyran institutions maintain safety, research, and trade offices under the protectorate agreement and help carry Sorell’s medicine outward. They do not own the fields or issue the local planting lists. Pellen matters because cultivation, atmosphere, treatment, and access are managed together, and none can expand without drawing upon the same limited living system.

Identity and Function

Function

Pellen maintains Sorell’s planting lists, cultivation licenses, research permits, biological screening, and medicinal shipping records. Its dock receives every visitor and cargo without direct clearance for a private growing or research compound.

Identity and Function

Governance

Growers, physicians, compound representatives, and custodians of the planting lists administer Pellen. Ilyran institutions maintain offices for shared safety standards, research exchange, and protected trade under the protectorate agreement, but they neither own the fields nor govern the settlement.

Environment and Travel

Environment

Homes, still houses, drying rooms, teaching halls, glasshouses, water catchments, and enclosed medicinal fields spread across low green hills. Circulation towers, atmospheric compactors, and planted windbreaks keep the settled belt breathable; beyond their reach, both air and cultivated ground thin.

Environment and Travel

Travel Notes

Ships without direct agricultural or research clearance must use Pellen’s general public dock. People and cargo undergo biological screening, inspection, and permit verification before entering a growing district. An Ilyran safety mark can shorten that process but cannot authorize an unlicensed landing or specimen collection.

Culture

The Twofold

Pellen’s Dawn joins cultivation to healing under one civic discipline. Planting lists record licensed crops and dedication plants tended for recovered patients, while Menders and Quickeners keep offices in the same hall because permission to heal and permission to grow begin in the same managed system. Renewal is valued here precisely because growth is not treated as unlimited.
