Who he is

The newest hand on a Deep crew, six years in. He came onto the crew on Hobb’s word. He keeps the weather on his slate and runs through the transfer checklist on every run inward, though no one has ever asked him to.

Appearance

Slight and narrow-faced, with untidy brown hair and round wire-rimmed spectacles, and a half smile that makes him look younger than the rest of the crew. He wears green coveralls with the sleeves rolled, and is rarely without his slate and stylus.

Personality

• Still looks at everything. He laughs at Hobb’s pump-seal story because he has heard it fewer times than the others.
• Keeps the crew’s oldest joke alive, asking Farian what his people say about the weather.
