Hobb
Who he is
The oldest hand on a Deep crew. On Dhorak’s hiring boards his word is worth more than most, and it brought Pell onto the crew. At the start of every posting he tells the same story about a pump seal at Station Four, takes the seat by the hatch on the way down, and powers up the intake chambers once they arrive.
Appearance
A big, heavyset man, broad through the chest, with close-cropped dark hair, a full beard, and a ready grin. He wears rust-red coveralls with the sleeves rolled, under a worn dark vest whose pockets are full of tools, and usually has a pair of battered work gloves in his hands.
Personality
- A grumbler, quick with something rude under his breath, and fond of his crew in his own way.

As the story unfolds
These details come from the story itself. Choose the last chapter you’ve read, and only what has been revealed up to that point will appear.
Station Seven
At Station Seven he asks Farian for his fish, and Farian promises it after the work. When Tamsin says Seldran’s forecast is clear, Hobb answers, “Not out there it doesn’t.” He dies at the storage room door beside Pell, still trying to force it.
