Hesryn

Spaceport

A concealed Ysilian hold that screens approved arrivals into a mist-filled valley without revealing the routes, records, or locations of other communities.

Overview

The Record

Hesryn is the Ysilian hold most outsiders mean when they say they have visited the moon. It occupies a mist-filled cut between low rocky hills, where dark stone, moisture-holding growth, and deliberate concealment obscure residences, storage chambers, meeting rooms, and landing infrastructure from the air. The hold provides a point of contact without becoming a map to anywhere else.

Incoming vessels wait beyond the surface approach with active scanning limited. Hesryn screens the arrival before activating temporary guidance lights over an intentionally difficult-to-identify field. A Varosi introduction can establish who sent a traveler and why they are expected. It cannot compel the hold to answer, illuminate the descent, or admit the vessel.

Those accepted may trade in fungi and dyes or receive quiet lodging. They are not promised fuel, repair, supplies, onward transport, or access to a public orbital market. Occulters guard the approach as pilots would at another port, but concealment here extends beyond safe descent. Guests are shown Hesryn, not the routes or records that would locate neighboring holds.

Resident households and stewards govern every local decision. Hesryn holds no authority over another community and is not Ysil’s capital. Varos may represent a hold externally when asked or provide protection during a specific threat; it does not decide who enters. Hesryn’s defining achievement is therefore limited by design: it makes outside contact possible while preventing one admission from becoming access to the moon.

Identity and Function

Function

Hesryn receives and screens limited outside traffic, provides quiet lodging, conducts small trade in fungi and dyes, and serves as the contact point Varos may identify to approved convoys. It admits visitors to one hold without creating a public port or opening movement across Ysil.

Identity and Function

Governance

Resident households and stewards govern Hesryn’s landing, admission, trade, local records, and movement. They hold no authority over another Ysilian community, and Hesryn is not a planetary capital. Varos may provide an introduction, requested protection, or external representation, but cannot compel reception or administer the hold’s daily life.

Environment and Travel

Environment

Hesryn occupies a narrow cut between low rocky hills under cool mist and dense moisture-holding tree-like growth. Low residences, storage chambers, meeting rooms, stewardship systems, and landing infrastructure are worked into dark stone and vegetation. The settlement and its approach remain deliberately difficult to distinguish from the damp valley around them.

Travel Notes

Hold beyond the surface approach, limit active scanning, and wait for Hesryn’s guidance. The landing field remains dark and difficult to identify until screening is complete and temporary lights mark the assigned descent. A Varosi introduction explains who sent you; it does not guarantee admission. Bring independent reserves. Hesryn promises no public market, fuel, repairs, resupply, onward transport, or map to another hold.

Culture

The Twofold

Hesryn treats privacy, guarded knowledge, concealed approaches, and protection from the untrusted as responsible Gloam stewardship. A route is shown only to someone given reason to follow it. Occulters serve the landing approach much as pilots serve an ordinary port, except that the hold does not publish how many it keeps or what else they conceal.
