Overview
The Record
Rhazek Basin makes ordinary civilian life possible on Kharad by placing it beneath the world that industry has made above. Homes, schools, clinics, markets, reservoirs, transit lines, and cultivated terraces fill an immense reinforced cavern under volcanic stone. Engineered ceilings and sealed gates hold out toxic air, ashfall, contamination, and the surface’s violent temperature changes.
The Basin supports the workers, specialists, and families on whom Kharad’s mines, foundries, yards, and descent systems depend, but it is not administered as a dormitory for Dhorak. Ward councils run schooling, health, water, habitation, and local services. Technical authorities maintain the systems that keep the cavern viable. Questions touching the foundries, military works, or the corridor leave those councils and pass upward to Dhorak.
That boundary gives Rhazek its identity. The city contributes labor and knowledge to nearly every part of Kharad’s industrial order while preserving a civic life not organized around the immediate demands of a furnace or descent window. Many Kharadi families regard the Basin as the moon’s enduring cultural heart: not because it stands apart from the industrial system, but because it holds what that system is meant to keep alive.

Terraced districts fill an immense reinforced cavern beneath volcanic stone. Reservoirs, hydroponic gardens, transit lines, geothermal works, and engineered ceilings maintain the inhabited volume, while sealed gates exclude toxic air, ash, industrial contamination, and surface temperature swings.
